Turnitin
Turnitin compares students’ work with the web, online journals and work submitted by other students around the world. Turnitin produces a similarity index and an originality report showing where the text has been copied from.
The new Turnitin Assignment tool
From September 2012 all Turnitin assignments will use the new Turnitin direct plugin for Moodle. It has several significant advantages over the older Turnitin classic plugin.
- It is easier to use for both staff and students
- Up to 5 separate files can be uploaded to a single Turnitin assignment
- The dates can be edited
- The post date also sets the hide until date in the Moodle gradebook
- The assignments can be ‘rolled over’ from one year to the next
- Students and staff can attach comments to the work
