I have been running a lot this month and did my first half marathon 2 weeks ago.. not bad for a beginner. The bug is catching as increasing numbers of the Learning Innovation team have been running and we even did a highropes course for our away day…

Spring is here and the next book is on the way. It is a Qualitative Research methods textbook, written with Claire Major published with Routledge. However, despite the books, bids, research and papers I did get out climbing here at Stanage edge last week….

The book New Approaches to Qualitative Research is being well received
This book is extremely impressive in the way that it covers subjects and issues not normally tackled by research methods texts. Especially strong is the discussion of the colonisation of social science ethics committees by the principles of medical ethics. Instead of re-hashing all of the usual descriptions of research methods, this book has really done something different by trying to provide some answers to the real concerns of researchers. – Senior Lecturer at York University</

This is my new blog, the other was tired and old and this is about what I am up to, where I am going and what I am writing about. This week I am off to the AERA conference in Denver to present on qualitative research synthesis, which is means of synthesising qualitative studies. This is the paper.
This is also the subject of one of my recent books A Practical Guide to Qualitative Research Synthesis (2010)
My new book on Second Life is due out in September this year
