Accessing Resources
The majority of resources you may need to use should be web based and so are accessible via an Internet browser. There are some web services which are only accessible via the University’s network, there are ways of accessing these using either the Virtual Private Network or the web cache. The remaining services should be accessible by using the Remote Desktop or Terminal Services as it is sometimes called. If you have not used a remote desktop before then it is like connecting to another computer that is inside the University from where ever you are. This remote computer has nearly the same programs on it as an ITS desktop machine has, so you can access Universe, QLX etc. as if you were at your old desk. More details on the Remote Desktop.
