Nicole Steils is researching this theme for her PhD under the supervision of Professor Maggi  Savin-Baden and Dr Gurnam Singh.  She is currently working on her literature review and planning her methodology.

This theme will cover the following issues:

• How is avatar design affecting learner identity?
• How do virtual world constructs affect real life constructs and perceptions?
• How are real world and in-world behaviours mediated and managed for learning?
• What is the impact of in-world learning and learner identity on real world learning?
• In what ways are learners and teachers repositioned through virtual worlds?
• How does the interaction of technology and learning impact on learner identity?
