The Three Themes
An initial review has been undertaken of existing data available, via databases and ESDS Qualidata. Much recent research into learning in immersive world centres around games and gaming. Data relating to learning in immersive worlds tends to focus on cognitive mapping and the organisation of learning rather than approaches to students’ experiences of learning in immersive worlds, pedagogical design and learner identity. Data will be collected through semi structured interviews and virtual focus groups in relation to each of the themes. It is anticipated that approximately 130 interviews, including follow up interviews, and between 6 and 10 virtual focus groups will be conducted over a period of 18-24 months per theme.
