Gemma is a PhD student on the CURLIEW project, addressing the impact of immersive virtual world learning and teaching on pedagogical design within Higher Education institutions. She graduated from the University of Wales, Aberystwyth with a BA in History in 2007 before taking some time out from education and then returning with enthusiasm! Her research interests lie in the socio-political impact of immersive virtual worlds, but can also side-step into the roles of teachers and learners in virtual worlds and e-learning technologies. From March 2012 she adopted another role as Learning Innovation’s Research Assistant and is enjoying the variety of projects and PhD.
