PCAP desktop capture
Oct 5th, 2011 by Amanda Hardy
PCAP is Echo360’s desktop capture software. It will record your screen activity, voice, and optional webcam and will work on most computers. It does not require a room installation, making it more convenient for many lecturers to make short informational recordings, narrated PowerPoints, and similar resources. Published recordings are stored and managed on the central Echo360 server and is accessed and viewed identically to a traditional Echo360 recording.
If you are a member of staff at Coventry University, you can install and use PCAP, Echo360’s personal/desktop capture software. Many of the resources found on this site are aimed at the traditional room installation of lecture capture, and we felt it would be useful to create a separate page focusing on those specific to personal capture. However, resources on the other pages may still be helpful to lecturers using PCAP.
Getting Echo360’s PCAP at Coventry |
|
You must contact Amanda Hardy (a.hardy@coventry.ac.uk or 0797 498 4179) to get PCAP. She will come round to your office to do the installation and show you how it works. These appointments generally take about 1 hour. Recommended equiment:
We do not recommend using PCAP on the Coventry-issued office PCs due to technical limitations. PCAP may be installed upon them as a medium to "publish" captures but otherwise performs poorly on those machines. |
