A new plug-in has been added that contains the Creative Commons 2.0 logo and link.To use the plug-in go to the dashboard of your blog, then select Plugins and activate it you can then drag the widget on to a sidebar.

JISC Logo

There is a new widget that adds the JISC Logo to your side bar if you are using Cuba for a JISC Project.

Go to your dash board then presentation/Widget and drag the JISC Logo widget to the side bar where you want it, don’t forget to save settings.

Spam

A new plug-in has been added that forces a person to fill in an extra field when making a comment. The reason for this is to help cut out spam postings. It has been set to be automatically activated in new blogs however if you wish to activate for your blog you will find it under Dashboard/plug-ins and it is called “Peter’s Custom Anti-Spam”, simple click the activate link and your comments will be given some anti-spam protection.

Most Active

I have added a new widget to the side bar called Most Active. For your blog to appear in there you must set your privacy option to allow search engines.

This is done by going to dashboard and then Options, Privacy and choose one of the radio buttons and then click the “Update Options”.

Cafes for free

A new widget has just been added that allows you to add a cafe or meeting place to your site.

Cafes are really web conferences that will be started automatically for you. You can fine tune how you conference is configured to allow the conference to available to everyone, everyone who has the password you set or just fellow Cubans.

To add a cafe go to the presentation tab, then widgets and drag the “My Cafe” widget onto one of the side bars.

You can have more than one cafe.

Menu Bar

I have activated a new tool for all users called the mu-menubar. This tool places a menu bar across the top of your sites giving easy access to the admin screens, you will only see the menu bar if you are log in and viewing one of your own sites.

New Comers

Welcome to all the new comers to CUBA.

Some of you have had problems registering,I hope I have solved this problem now by altering the log in so there are links to the registration page. Please use you University usernames so that it is easier to maintain.

CUBA is still developing and new bits are being added and slight modifications are taking place. If you spot any thing wrong please post a comment to this post and I will try and sort it out as soon as possible.

As new widgets are added they will be announced here and under the New Widgets categories.
