The ESF workshop EW08-142 “ Ways to reduce the carbon footprint of Portland cement and cementitious products ” will be held at the University of Coventry on Monday the 22nd and Tuesday the 23rd of June 2009.
Participants will be welcome from the afternoon of Sunday the 21st. June, when we will meet for informal discussions and supper in the city centre. Please contact the convenors to advise of your travel plans.
The tabs at the right hand side of this page marked “Theme 1, Theme 2,” etc. are discussion boards for the technical themes of the workshop. Each participant is encouraged to contribute to more than one theme, in order that we make best use of our time together. The themes suggested may change as our discussion evolves over the coming weeks and our final agenda will evolve accordingly. We suggest that a final agenda is agreed and posted in the first few days of June.
Note that the ESF encourage follow-on work as an outcome of these workshops. We may choose to collectively publish a review article after the workshop and have already been in discussion with the editor of a major cements journal. One other outcome from this work should be a major proposal to the European Union, for reaserch funding in this area. The Mineral Industry Research Organisation (MIRO) seeks to lead such a proposal and a general discussion article is posted here, based on an earlier article from MIRO News.If participants have views on other possible outcomes from the workshop, please post these for discussion in the “General” discussion tab.
Lastly, it remains for us to thank everyone again for your interest in this topic and to say that we both look forward to welcoming you to the UK in June.
