Events
On 20 November 2007 we held an Open Day in the Centre for Studies in Higher Education (CSHE) to demonstrate CURVE and show staff how it worked. About 40 colleagues visited us and the overall impression of CURVE was very positive.
On 26 November 2007 we held a joint event with CIPeL. The day inaugurated a Special Interest Group in the interprofessional e-learning arena and launched the CIPeL area in CURVE. Around 60 people took part in the day including vsitors from 30 other institutions and groups, including a good representation from the NHS. Apart from seeing CURVE in action and being able to try it out there were “show and tell” sessions given by CIPeL staff on the development of learning objects. You can read some feedback from delegates here.
On 6 December 2007 Ann Dickinson gave a demonstation of using CURVE to manage an interactive learning object. Using EXE and tiddlywiki Ann showed how students could navigate their way through a learning object (itself built up from a collection of objects deposited in CURVE) and record their learning as they went. The result is a highly personalised learning experience. Twelve members of the Coventry learning development community took part in a lively session.
On 12 March 2008 the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences, in conjunction with CIPeL, held a CURVE open day. Over 60 people attended for the day and were treated to a series of demosnstrations of how CURVE works and of learning objects deposited in CURVE.
