Turnitin is a plagiarism prevention /detection system.  Turnitin can analyse common file types and can also be used for checking computer programmes.  The University has unlimited use of Turnitin.

How does it prevent plagiarism?

It works as a deterrent. When students see how quickly and easily Turnitin can detect plagiarism they will think twice about cheating.

How do I get hold of Turnitin?

Every CUOnline VLE module has Turnitin built in.  A Turnitin Assignment can be added to a module using Add Content Link.

Turnitin Grademark

As well as checking for plagiarism Turnitin also has a built in online marking tool called Grademark. It has a number of features that facilitate marking either entirely online or a mixture of paper and online marking.

Even if you do not like reading off the screen you can still use Grademark to mark and return work to students.
