Experimenting again. Haven’t managed to embed it so here’s the link to the sound.
Transcript:
I would choose web pages in Moodle for a number of reasons:
- Ease of editing - the Moodle web page editor looks less complicated than Word
- I am able to edit my module team’s pages
- There’s only ONE version - avoids 2 people making changes to a Word document without the other knowing!
- The corporate style and feel of each page in Moodle is very easy to apply, making it look more professional for the students
- All files are stored in Moodle and not locally on a PC
- Accessible web pages are automatically created (due to the way the Moodle editor works - I don’t have to think about it)
- I can carry on working anywhere with an internet connection - no documents to carry about
- And what about the students? would you rather read an email with an attachment or without one? Putting a Word document into Moodle is like adding an attachment. Better for your students if they can read it straight away.
That is not to say that MS Word is not useful. I would do drafts in Word before putting it into a web page in Moodle.
